Currently in my shell

OK, I know it's been a while since I've updated the blog. Come on, admit it, you've done the same thing yourselves.

Let's just say I've been hibernating for a while as the harsh northern winter decides to go on its merry way. There are signs of spring in the air, and soon I'll be munching on grass in the yard and flowers in the garden, and blogging to my little chelonian heart's content.

Oh, the deep, slow thump of a hibernating chelonian heartbeat. So mellow. Relaxed. Thump. Thump. Dreaming about strawberries. Thump. I might have to come out of hibernation for strawberries alone. Thump-thump. Soon.

"Threaten" that gopher tortoise, please!

Well, this subject is the main reason why I started this blog in the first place:

State commission looking to upgrade tortoise's status to threatened

"...the gopher tortoise is being buried alive by developers who pay for optional Fish and Wildlife 'incidental take' permits to build atop the reptile's habitat rather than relocate the species. The commission wants to upgrade the reptile's status from a species of special concern to threatened."
